We escaped Cancun this afternoon by boarding our Cubana Airliner and flew about sixty minutos wast to Havana. Customs went well. The officials asked very few questions, and they didn’t seem to care that I was here just two months ago. All our bags arrived, we weren’t hassled, and nobody even had to open their bags. All our medical donations came through. We met our Cuban travel guides, and they were wonderful. Very friendly and personable. Instead of dealing with Canadian intermediaries like I did on the last trip, I dealt directly with agents in Havana. This eliminated potential problems and delays and made our tour virtually painless up to this point.
We were taken in a Mercedes-Benz mini-bus to the Hotel National, the most famous in Cuba. Many world leaders, movie stars, and other dignataries have stayed here. After checking in, we enjoyed a late dinner an outside garden restaurant overlooking the Straits of Florida where the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea merge.
It has been an outstanding day all around. Time for a good night’s sleep.
