Pope Francis continued his Rock Star Tour of Cuba today. He was greeted by hundreds of thousands of Catholic faithful fans, supportive non-believers, some demonstrators, and partying Cubans on a cloudy Sunday morning. The Pope arrived in his Popemobile to perform mass at the Plaza de la Revolución in Central Havana.
Separate from all the religious and political considerations is the huge amount of publicity created by this event. It will undoubtedly create even more demand from those who want to visit Cuba. Hopefully we will soon reach a point (if we haven’t already) where it will be impossible for a future American president to reverse the ongoing process of normalization.
